roped
I love the nautical feel of the mats, bracelets and key rings from SerpentSea. Made from recycled marine ropes by Sophie Aschauer, each mat is named after the four most infamous pirates of the 17th century while the key rings bear the name of a greek mythological sea nymph.
Perfect for a beach house or to bring a little beach to your house.

India In Pictures
I'm back from two weeks in India with all of the usual jet lag (hello 5 am wake ups and 7 pm bed times) and totally enchanted with the country. It was a fascinating visit filled with incredible sights, smells and shopping. The following are a few of my favorite pictures - for more please check out the full album on flickr.

My next destination
I'm headed to India this afternoon for two weeks. This video is all the inspiration I need, and I can't wait to explore a place I've dreamed of visiting since I was a kid. So much food to taste, shopping to do and pictures to take.
Daniel and Mirra from the Perennial Plate have some amazing work. Definitely worth looking at the rest of their stuff!

summer dressing
It's starting to get sticky out there - and although shorts and tees are my typical weekend wardrobe, there's so much to be said for a little cotton dress. For dates-nights or market mornings, or to toss over your bikini on the way back from the beach, stay chic and cool this summer in these breezy fuss-free frocks.
In assorted shades of strawberry, from Tinley Road, Garnet Hill, Gap, Splendid, Sundance and Soft Joie
Simple shapes with a little more edge in black and grey. From Land's End, Nation Ltd, Monrow and Anthropologie
Navy frocks that feel backyard bbq-friendy. From Land's End, Garnet Hill, Madewell and Anthropologie
Finally, a few bright basics round out your summer wardrobe. From Splendid, Anthropologie, C&C California and Gap.
New Look for Capital A
It was high time to bid farewell to the old header and shake off some of the dust around the blog. I'm still working on updating old posts and optimizing everything to fit our new wide format... but it's getting there.
The blog has had it's fair share of ups and downs over the last four years and 500 posts - and I'm sure there will be plenty more in the future. Thanks for sticking with it and reading my travelogues, recipes, musings and wish lists when I get around to posting them. I love having you here.

Brazil in pictures
Brasilia is a master planned city, designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer and built entirely in only four years between 1956-1960. We spent our days exploring the swooping grey and white concrete buildings and the surrounding wilderness filled with streams and waterfalls perfect for swimming in.
